House Of Love - Christine 12"
All good things start on Creation Records, or at least it seems that way doesn't it? Think of all the brilliant bands that started off on that label, and morphed into greatness.. House Of Love, Oasis are a few of them. House Of Love started off with a beautiful swirling psychedelic sound that fit right in with the label, but as they matured they dropped that swirl in place of a more mature britrock sound, and then moved to Fontana. I'm not sure what to think of that label, in some cases some great bands ended up there, House Of Love and Cocteau Twins for example, but they also had crooner fluff... Oh well, I guess you can't be perfect! This is one of the first singles House Of Love released on the Creation label, and I believe what got people into them in the first place. I'm not certain why they decided NOT to name their later albums, but now we have to call them "Butterfly Cover" and "A Spy In The House Of Love", but that gives them some form of mystery :) I love all the releases by this band, even the
not-well-received In Audience With the Mind, although they did lose some of their edge from the first album (that's not a bad thing really!). Check out all the tracks on the ep, as I think they're all ace, and drop a note about what you think!
