Inspiral Carpets - Australian Tour EP 1993 (Promo Only)

Being a hug fan of the Inspiral Carpets, I've managed to dig up most of their releases in used record shops and online. One of my favorite pieces by them is this Australian tour EP from 1993, which was released as a souvenir promotional release only. Granted, I wasn't in Australia at the time of the this release, but sure would loved to have been! This EP embraces the power which were Inspiral Carpets in the early 90's, and demonstrated why they were one of the premier 'Madchester' bands to see live. I never got the chance to see them live, alas, but have countless live videos, and I sure know what I missed. The added touch to this EP is the very cool rendition of 'Tainted Love' as the final track. I love this spin on the classic tune, and the very stylish organs wherein which is a trademark of the band. It could easily be one of my favorite Carpets tracks. They are one of those bands that you should love, and if you don't know them you'll surely grow to love them.

Track 1, Dragging Me Down (Live)

Track 2, Smoking Her Clothes (Live)

Track 3, Fire (Live)

Track 4, Tainted Love

UK Mute Records 1993, PRD93/21

Personal rating 5/5

I WAS at that tour, and yes, they were Cool As... very slick. IIRC Tainted Love was part of the live set as well. They can indeed Come Back Tomorrow, or anytime. I reckon if you squint the cover design looks like a map of Australia ('EP' is Tasmania). Maybe.
